Some more construction to improve the infrastructure or……..think about it.

Oh yes I realized someone important is gracing this city again by its presence. And how did I come to know? While coming from Vikhroli to Powai, I have to go through the thin curvaceous, beautified by potholes, top of a little mole hill road. Simplex, BMC, MSRDC and MUTP has made sure that people who pass that road every day in the morning from 8-10AM and evening 5-9PM remember them religiously (read curse). “Oh Priyanka control your emotions”. Anyways, the traffic police and the state police were present in abundance to control the maddening traffic (Did you know it takes half an hour to cover that patch of 1KM in front of IIT Powai).

This is Dr. Manmohan Singh’s 7th visit since he took up the post of PM. This gives me immense happiness and feeling of pride that our beloved Mumbai holds such important position in his list of things. He launched Rs 11,446 cr Mumbai-Delhi Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) project at Parel, the single biggest project being taken up by the railways after independence.Dr. Singh’s dedicated speech to United Progressive Alliance commitment to strengthen Mumbai's infrastructure is rather appreciating!

Dr. Singh where do we doubt your sincerity towards developing the infrastructure of Mumbai, but the real problem is not the initiation of projects in space hungry city like Mumbai but the COMPLETION OF THE PROJECTS. But history is evident to the shabby way of working of the state authorities. By the time something like this gets completed a decade is gone by and poor citizens of the city have faced the full brunt. What I am saying is that “Inconvenience caused is regretted” but nothing is done to reduce the inconvenience. “Men are at work” and hence it’s important to “Be careful” but there is always a right way of doing the things right without troubling the citizens.

Mumbaikers are equally responsible for their current condition. We quietly suffer and accept it the way of life. Development is happening every where in all the countries, but the way Indians suffer is unique. We accept that if a road is re-constructed or a bridge is under construction, we have to follow the ritual of going through the rubble, the stones, potholes, resulting in jams. And this has become part of our lives.

Hence, Mumbaikers join me in pleading to the state and central government to speed up such projects. Just initiating a project does not add another feather to their cap (Read another issue for campaigning and promoting themselves during elections) but completion is equally important.
Most importantly completing it the proper way by being a little sensitive to the basic needs of the people.

Jaago before its too late!!

Very true!!
This is happening not only in mumbai, but Delhi too.
This metro construction, has made delhites life miserable.
We have to travel almost 4-5 kms etc go to reach our destination. if not, then it takes arnd 1 hr to cover a distance of some few kms.

Something shud be definitely done to change all this.

Very true.. Its time for the citizens to wake up, whether its Mumbai, Delhi or other places, because expecting our politicians to wake up or be sensitive to our needs is "Living in a fools paradise". Everything happens right under their nose. Guess our beloved politicians follow Gandhiji's philosophy (but a bit modified) "Hear no evil (listen to the people's woe), see no evil( see how people who voted them to power suffer), speak no evil (speak up for the rights of the very people who look upto them)"

How true this is ....moreover, our favorite politicians talk about making Mumbai Shanghai. This is what is called "Vision IMPOSSIBLE".Thats a perfect political vision, isnt it?
We talk about Mumbai being the commercial capital, it suffers from basic infrastructure.
The issue of us is that we talk only Gandhi and forget Bhagat Singh....ultimately Gandhi also had to "Karo yaa maro".So guys all gandhi followers to...ps kuch karoo!!!

Awe some article.Public servants inspite of called servants do not face problems that a common man faces. The responsible person should go to the same grill as the common man to understandc the pain.
